Since its launch 18 months ago, the mission of The River has been to provide a regional lens on topics of national importance. Our goal is to be a community asset, producing in-depth, quality journalism for the Hudson Valley and Catskills regions.
As the coronavirus pandemic has quickly become the defining issue of our short existence, we’ve attempted to rise to that calling. We’re providing daily updates on COVID-19 from the federal, state, and local levels, and we’re producing original enterprise reporting and feature writing on the myriad ways the pandemic is affecting the political, economic, and cultural life of the region.
The need for this type of journalism has never been more clear, but the crisis is a major threat to media everywhere, especially local newsrooms. All of The River‘s reporting is free to readers, and we are entirely member-supported. That means we need your help to continue the coverage we’ve been doing, and to do even more in the future.
We are asking for your help in supporting us in any amount that feels good to you. If you’re already a supporter, please consider adding a few dollars to your current level.
You can contribute at a monthly level or make a one-time donation.
